XI Film Summer School with Christian Frei in Locarno
For the eleventh consecutive year, the Film Summer School organized by the University of Lugano (USI) and the Festival del film Locarno will take place from 2 to 6 August. This year entitled “True as Fiction: Cinema between Narration and Representations of the Real”, it will host various seminars plus workshops conducted by renowned filmmakers Lisandro Alonso and Christian Frei. Deadline for application: July 9.

The jury of the 8th Silverdocs Documentary Festival in Washington presented the Swiss documentary filmDIE FRAU MIT DEN 5 ELEFANTEN by Vadim Jendreyko with the Sterling Award for Best World Feature, endowed with 5,000 dollars, on June 27, 2010. The festival jury noted in its statement: "From a filmmaker at the top of his game, this film is a living Vermeer, beautifully framed, elegant and elegiac, with an artistic vision that mirrors and augments its subject. This graceful and compelling work explores how beauty and creativity can transcend the harshness of life, and the jury believes it will be as rewarding in 40 years as it is today." (SWISS FILMS)
