Lolo (Leonardo Nigro), 30, a second-generation Italian, and his lover Manuel (Simon Grossenbacher) are about to celebrate their one-year-anniversary. The evening starts on a high note: as a surprise for Lolo, Manuel has dressed up as Sophia Loren, which Lolo seems to enjoy beyond measure.
However, this romantic tête-à-tête comes to an abrupt end when Lolo's granny shows up on his doorstep. Lolo just manages to hide Manuel in his bedroom before Nonna Concetta (Rosanna Kern) storms into the flat.
The old lady, much to her grandson's dismay, soon takes over the living-room and notices that a romantic date is on the cards. The thought that her grandchild has finally found a «fidanzata», a fiancée, fills her with joy! Lolo tries everything to make her leave but Nonna is set to stay. He then desperately tries to talk his sweetheart into going away. However, Manuel is not the kind to be easily dismissed and confidently struts into the living-room. Lolo is deeply shocked, but Nonna gives the new visitor a warm welcome. She thinks Manuel is Manuela, the «fidanzata».
They are in for an intense evening.
