As far as Weintraub, an elderly Jewish New Yorker, is concerned, all Arabs are terrorists. Hayat, a young Palestinian woman, considers all Jews to be thieves and murderers. When the two meet, the result is no sugar-sweet love story with a happy end but a sharp-tongued comedy full of black humour!
Press Review
«The game Stina Werenfels plays with prejudices is quite brilliant, not least because she spares nobody. The involuntary relationship between the Jewish couple and the Arab nurse bears witness to both past and present with an extraordinary lightness of touch.»
Tages Anzeiger
«A well-written screenplay with excellent dialogues which allows the characters to home in uninhibitedly on every sensitive issue and to put both feet in it unerringly in a delightfully politically-incorrect manner. A highly topical political comedy we could do with more of the same.»
Neue Zürcher Zeitung
«A magnificent film. Brilliant dialogues, clever humour, a fast pace, and characters with a true-to-life nature that inspires genuine affection.» Der
Bund
«For a full 30 minutes, we are treated to an astonishingly clever balancing act between the individual and the stereotype. And we do not experience a single moment of boredom or embarrassment, despite the fact that the writer draws upon virtually all the well-tried tactics for dealing with this delicate topic.»
Jüdische Rundschau
«30 minutes pass by in a flash; a real firework of a film which triggers explosions of laughter. Everything works perfectly: screenplay, direction, dialogues, cast, humour against a harsh, bitter background.»
