The rustic charms of Gstaad and the surrounding countryside have been attracting wealthy families and celebrities for over a century. During the last decades the villages have been growing. Cranes and building sites have become part of the landscape. The natives are beginning to feel threatened by the growing invasion of their guests, as they call them, and their increasing indifference towards local traditions. Christine, Walter, Andrea, Léonie and their families come from different walks of life: farmers, carpenters, a skiing instructor and the manager of the Gstaad Palace hotel.
