Born in 1958 in Basel, Switzerland. Studied Philosophy and German at the University of Basel and at the Free University Berlin. 1987 MA from the Free University Berlin. Works as journalist and theatre dramaturge. Since 1989 works as independent documentary filmmaker and author. Since 2000 lecturer of cinematic and documentary storytelling. Since 2010 Board member of Swiss Filmmakers Association. Since 2013 Head of documentary film directing department at FOCAL (Foundation for professional training in cinema and audiovisual media).
