Das kalte Herz

In 1931, the young piano teacher Karl Ulrich Schnabel decided to make a film. With modest means but strong support from his friends and family, he shot an early adaption of the fairy tale “The Cold Heart” in the surroundings of Berlin. Franz Schnyder, later one of the most successful Swiss directors, starred among a group of young people having their careers ahead of them. Due to political events in 1933, the film could never been finished until its discovery by a Swiss filmmaker some 80 years later.
