1917 - The Real October (1917 - Der Wahre Oktober) is an artistic retelling of the Russian Revolution. Based on research in partly previously unknown source material, in diaries, reports and literary works of her animated film protagonists - artists such as Maxim Gorki and Kasimir Malevich - the two-time Grimme Prize winner Katrin Rothe undertakes a multi-perspective interrogation of what is widely known today as "The October Revolution". A novelty: the Russian Revolution only from the perspective of the artists involved.
