“Striking and bringing down” are two of the basic concepts of the Swiss farmer’s game of “Hornuss”, a fascinating contest that takes us back to the earliest days of agra-culture in Switzerland. The film focuses on four players, in whose company we set off on a two-year journey that takes us to the playing fields and the hinterland beyond – a journey through a country that is less and less sure of itself. From 52 chance situations emerges a single picture of today's Switzerland.
Norbert Wiedmer
Born in 1953 in Bern. 1974-75 Worked as a teacher. 1975-80 Studied in Paris and Munich. Graduated from HFF (Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film) in Munich. 1980-82 scientific assistant for the documentary film department at the HFF. Since 1982 independent filmmaker, cameraman, cutter and lecturer.
