The film takes a stand against the common claim that political cabaret no longer exists in Switzerland today. Cabaret is something other than comedy. While also satirical, humorous and entertaining, today’s cabaret addresses the current Zeitgeist. It is based on a long tradition and has come of age, with other topics in its line of fire today. Represented in the film are important artists from today’s scene, who hold their own mirror of the Zeitgeist before us – and thus take satire to the limits of its threshold of pain.
Werner Zeindler
Born in 1947 in Berne. Directing internship at German Swiss Broadcasting Service (SF). Studied at DFFB (Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin). Trainee and director’s assistant in the theatre. Reports and short films for television. Theatre staging in Zurich, Stuttgart and Chur. Author and director of radio plays. Works as author of radio plays, screenplays and as independent filmmaker.
