The story of Stefan Balsiger, a congenial, average Swiss man and councillor to the embassy, who accompanies a US senator on his mission in Cuba. He makes a botch of so many things that a minor blunder by the Senator turns into a serious incident which intensifies into a second Cuban crisis – thanks to further entanglements by the media, police and diplomats who represent the arch-enemies USA and Cuba. Only one person can eventually solve the crisis: Stefan Balsiger himself. As a young diplomat, Balsiger had once dreamed of standing on the stage of world politics. But as the unfortunate series of events in Cuba lead him to that very position, he only wants one thing: to exit from the limelight as quickly as possible.
Sabine Boss
Born in 1966 in Aarau. 1986-87 Radio presenter at LoRa and DRS 3. 1987-91 Sound engineer for film and theatre. 1992-96 Studies film directing at the HGKZ (Hochschule für Kunst und Gestaltung Zürich). 1996-97 Assistant Director on various productions and projects for German Swiss Broadcasting Service (SF). 1998 Freelance work at SF. 1999 Freelance Director for TV3. 2000 Director at the Hamburger Spielhaus theatre.
