Maria Nicollier
Yuko is a 30 year old Japanese woman living with her partner Daiichiro in Kyoto, Japan. Under immense social pressure, the young couple feel compelled to marry, but the question is how and where? In her quest to find the right location for their wedding, Yuko becomes increasingly aggravated. Nicollier’s film accompanies Yuko and Daiichiro into a hidden world: Japan’s huge weddings industry machine, complete with wedding dresses, western pseudo priests, fake churches, plastic cakes and a whole lot more.
Maria Nicollier
Born in 1972 in Geneva. 1997 Receives Arts degree from University of Geneva. 1999 Receives Sociology degree from social sciences faculty, Geneva and Kyoto. 2000 Attends cinema course, New York Film Academy. 2001-03 Works as journalist and director at TVP Production, Neuchâtel. 2003 Registered journalist in Lausanne. 2000 Co-founder of Label Image directors’ association, Geneva. 2003 Co-founder of Rec Production, La Chaux-de-Fonds.
