Two marriages - DIS MOI OUI... EN JAPONAIS and MATCHMAKER
Marriages are in again. After the revolutions of the seventies, the traditional family structures make a comeback, this time however only as one possible way of life. There are still cultures, however, where the social pressure to marry is still strong. Maria Nicollier makes in DIS MOI OUI... EN JAPONAISa portrait of Yuko, a 30 year old Japanese woman living with her partner Daiichiro in Kyoto, Japan. Under immense social pressure, the young couple feel compelled to marry, but the question is how and where? On the other side, as an experiment in the film MATCHMAKER, the thirty-year-old Jewish film director Gabrielle Antosiewicz sets herself the task of finding a spouse in Zurich and discovers there are only a few dozen to choose from.
