EXIT. LE DROIT DE MOURIR by Fernand Melgar
No one knows the day or the hour. When illness strikes, accompanied by pain and physical decline, there we are, faced with death. The outlook on what remains of life appears dismal and full of anguish. How to spare oneself, and one’s closest family, slow agony? Switzerland is the only country in the world where associations, such as EXIT, quite legally provide suicide assistance to people at the end of their lives. Swiss Film Prize 2006: Best Documentary.

FINDING NEVERLAND by Marc Forster with Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet
A semi-fictional account of the experiences of PETER PAN author J. M. Barrie that led him to write the children's classic. In the movie, he befriends a young widow—and more importantly, her four sons—and their experiences together give him the ideas for a story about boys who do not want to grow up.

A BOUT DE SOUFFLE von Jean Luc Godard am 26. September auf BR3 2006-09-25 (German)

Switzerland closes the doors
A black day for Switzerland and for the swiss people. The politics of fear worked. Under the influence of the lies of a government that is taken aside by a right extremist party, the official Switzerland installs an institutional racism, a general ambiance of mistrust and an arsenal of repressive mesures against fugitives and people working and living in Switzerland and against people who help them. By this they close also the eyes to what is really happening in the world. And this will not stop. The right extremist parties have already found their next subject for their cultural crusade: the minarets. The progressive people now will have to resist, help where they can and prove that the official Switzerland is not the entire Switzerland.

SIAMO ITALIANI und SEPTEMBERWIND by Alexander J. Seiler
SIAMO ITALIANI (THE ITALIANS) was 'the thunderbolt that rudely awakened Swiss cinema from the slumbers in which it had been since the end of the War'. Seiler's cameras descended from the lofty Alpine peaks into the streets of everyday life. Siamo Italiani marked an ideological and stylistic change in Swiss filmmaking and now cinema was to be seized upon as a critical tool and means of personal expression. Seiler revealed the Swiss as more than a nation that hid behind their banal defensiveness and hypocritical neutralism". 40 years later, Seiler visits the protagonists and makes a second film.

BLAU by Norbert Wiedmer and Stefan Kälin with Hösli and Ricardo
Musicians Thomas Hösli and Ricardo Regidor aren’t exactly an ideal pairing. The former is still a punk, the latter a jazz pianist. God knows why they got together in order to produce German pop songs. A musical road movie of a very special kind, rich in melody and where every day power games are reflected by an ironic mirror image.

"But I can also just sit on a chair and dream that colors are floating by, and then the same board is purple, blue and green. This is related to the way I associate the idea of inner spaces with colour. The relationship of color and space is much more important to me than, for instance, it's connection with form or illustration. Obviously color and form are related but the meaning of form is secondary in this respect. Painting is always bound up with matter, and so, depending on your point of view, there's something bleak about it. (...)" (Adrian Schiess)

WERANGSTWOLF (WHOAFRAIDWOLF) von Clemens Klopfenstein with Bruno Ganz, Mathias Gnädinger
A group of actors making their way to Rome ends up going astray due to the fog, darkness, ice and their own feelings of guilt, becoming completely lost in the sibylline hills. It wouldn’t be possible to explain WERANGSTWOLF entirely even if you wanted to. That is its strength, presenting an open-ended event in an open space in a disjointed moment in time. The theatre texts attain a unique, imminent presence. Lies, freedom and the man in the machine; the alcoholic in A NIGHT'S SHELTER sees clearly, but is still imprisoned, WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? reflects self-destruction, PROMETHEUS reminds us of the dawn of Man and is still utopian. In a liberating landscape, language tears time apart.

ZÜRI BRÄNNT
The legendary film about the zurich youth movement of the 80s is a pamphlet and a document at the same time of a liberation of an entire generation. Street battles, naked demonstrations, punk music, living autonomy: The Zurich movement said good bye to the protestant zwinglian bourgeoisie and asked for life, room and money, subito! The movement opened a big space for creativity and changed Zurich in many ways. In the today multicultural and event-oriented city we cannot imagine how it was before.
